L’agenzia italiana del farmaco (A.I.F.A.) in collaborazione con l’I.S.S (Istituto Superiore di Sanità), e sponsored by the Ministry of Health disseminates a message on the proper use of antibiotics. This class of drugs should be used only when prescribed by a doctor who has assessed the effectiveness, should also not be uninterrupted therapy before the indicated time after taking the drug, or however is best done only after consulting your doctor.
Do not take antibiotics to treat viral infections or syndromes cooling of the airways as totally ineffective and inappropriate.
Abuse inappropriate use of antibiotics also helps, according to data provided by the AIFA, the development and proliferation of strains of bacteria resistant to the drug. It accentuates the risk in the near future, it could no longer have a cure for infections can easily defeat it first.
Regarding antibiotic resistance, the alarm is launched from EARS-NET (European Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System) which stressed the threat posed by Klebsiella pneumoniae (gram negative bacterium that can cause bacterial pneumonia) and in some cases are resistant to carbapenems considered a last resort, the situation is alarming by the fact that these antibiotics are being developed resistance to multiple and in a more anomalous, as the search for new antibiotics against these bacteria is at a standstill.
